Be My Valentine

Be My Valentine

Valentines day was 2 days ago.

I love love.

The best thing about love is that there are so many different types and levels of love. There is romantic/relationship love, fatherly love, motherly love, brotherly love, sisterly love, family love, friendship love, Godly love,
and the list goes on forever.

On Valentines Day, our society tends to focus more on romantic love than any other type of love. This leads single individuals who still belong in middle school *cough cough boy in my class cough cough* to say things such as, "Happy Singles-Awareness Day!" In my opinion, people who say that have the wrong attitude about Valentines. While it is definitely a bonus to be in some sort of relationship for celebrating Valentines Day, people who are not blessed with a romantic relationship should stop moping around and celebrate some of
the other types of love.

It's easy. Show your friends that you care. Find other single friends and play games, eat food, watch movies, or find some other fun activity to do at home. Buy your mother flowers or chocolates or hand make her a card letting her know that you love and appreciate her. There are a million different things you can do. Seriously. Just no moping!

This year, as I am not currently in a relationship,
I chose an individual who is very important to me as my valentine.

For the last 9 years, he has been the most constant, loyal, and faithful
friend that I could ever imagine.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you......

Laddie!

You'll have to excuse the look on his face. He doesn't like the flash.

This amazing guy follows the scout oath and law more exactly than any human male that I know. He is very trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. What more could a person ask for? He certainly isn't perfect. But, who is?

Plus, he can be a fantastic pillow!

Weird Weather

Where's Winter?

The weather this year has been very unusual.

I live in Logan, UT which is near the northern border of the state. It is also at a pretty high elevation. We live in the beautiful cache valley, which is surrounded by tall, jagged mountains. If I remember correctly, the valley is just over
4,500 ft. above sea level. Most winters are bitterly cold, and very snowy.

This time last year, we had a few feet of snow, and the skies were generally very clear. Clear skies contribute to how cold it gets. When there is cloud cover, the clouds hold the heat in closer to the earth, keeping temperatures a little higher. This year, the weirdest part of the weather is the lack of snow. We've had about 3 snow storms total. Most places in the valley, you can't even find snow on the ground. The only place you can find snow is up in the mountains. It has also been a lot warmer than past years, which is the one change that I enjoy a lot. It feels like winter decided to not come this year. It feels like we've just been stuck in this weird place somewhere between the end of fall and beginning of spring.

Taken today:

Almost no snow!

The valley is looking uncharacteristically gray and drab right now.

This photo was taken at about 3:00 this afternoon.
It looks so depressing!

I miss our valley of sunshine and sparkling snow!

Here are some pictures that I took on February 26, 2011.
Almost exactly a year ago.

Lots of snow!

We had a natural phenomenon!
